Project #4: Video Editing Project

In this video I made a story about a man taking about horses and the great things about them. In the beginning he talks about how he has always had a love for horses even when he was a kid. Later he talks about how now he helps and teaches kids who also have a love for horses. In this video I used several different video transitions and effects to help tell the story. I also included a song in the beginning and end of the video to open and close it.

Project #3: Stills Editing Project

This video tells the story of a group people putting together a project that they plan to submit to a national contest. The grand prize of the contest is $20,000. I used the pictures that I thought would best tell this story from the documentary stills folder. I also used different types of transitions and added text to add life to the story. One of the transition effects I used involved the video effect of black and white. Several times throughout the video I transitioned to a black and white image and then quickly transition to the color version of the same image. Besides adding separate text pages I also added subtexts on top of a paper background overlaying some of the images.

Project #2: Website Design

For designing this website I tried to create a site that was very eye appealing. I created a site of a young aspiring actress, singer, and songwriter. Despite the fact that many of the pictures of this girl where depressing, I attempted to find the best-looking photos. In the main photo of the girl’s face on the right side is a cut out with the use of a couple filters. On that same picture I used the erase tool to slightly fade out the bottom part. The other pictures I did different things with depending on what I was doing with them. One picture I used a filter, another I put text on, and another I faded and used the blur tool and placed at the bottom of the page. I also tried to make the site flow nicely by using certain fonts, colors, and shadings.

Web Analysis of z889.org

The setup of Burlington County College’s radio station’s website (z889.org) is very basic. The top of every page has a bar that includes the name of the station in a graphic that changes every few seconds with different images. Every page also includes the navigation bar vertically going down the left side. The flow of the site consists of the same top and sides on every page with a different center body for every page. For example, the main page displays the main content in the center body and when you click on “About Z88.9” just the top and sides stay the same while the center body changes to the “About Z88.9” content. This site uses several different colors but the colors primarily used in the color scheme include red, black, and teal.

The content of the site includes station events, programming information, playlists, and DJ bios. The main page of the site includes featured events, YouTube videos, weather, listen live buttons, and sponsorship banners. The site includes a page that provides information about the station and a page that provides contact information. Since the station is a non-commercial station the site also provides a page for underwriting on the station. The site also includes a page for links to outside sites and a page for contest rules for the station.

I believe that the site does work. The site is presented in a very user-friendly manner. The setup of the site allows for very easy navigating. I found with little trouble any available information on the site. The navigation bar on the left side of every page makes for very easy navigating. There is also a good visual display present in the site that contributes to why the site does work. The sites visual display includes good coloring, graphics that include motion, and YouTube videos.
